I agree Carol- there is no value in holding a grudge. It should be a lesson to all of us- recruiters, engineers, HR Directors, though. "When you need a friend, it's too late to make one." It really goes back to just being a decent human being. If as a recruiter, I can't help someone, I tell them. I don't refuse to take the call or delete the email. As an engineer, it does not serve you to be rude to a recruiter that calls you and as an HR Director the same is true. We are all just people going to work and trying to provide for our families and what you put out to the universe comes back to you tenfold. It is a conscious choice if it is goodwill or not.

I totally agree Carol. It is amazing how many calls I get each and every day from headhunters. I've had recruiters hang up on me once I tell them we are not calling out openings to headhunters, I've had recruiters beg and I get the constant deep sigh when I say "Sorry but NO". I am saying no for a reason, it’s not personal, it’s the economy. I am lucky to still have a job and will remember each and every call I get asking for business. I do see light at the end of the tunnel if we all can just hold in there.

You nailed it, Carol! IMHO, recruiters need to help each other and share information, networks, and do whatever we can to assist our colleagues in this economy. Corporate recruiters, agencies and headhunters alike, we all need to stick together!

Thanks for getting the word out!
